We left Keshan and headed to Esfahan. After riding all day through a desert where we'd been told not to stop or take pics as its the centre of their nuclear establishments. Great mountainous desert country, but sadly no pics. I'd read it was one of the most beautiful cities on the earth. We had been given directions to a decent hotel, just metres from the square.
One of the many bridges. more pics to follow...... must go!
We had planned to visit Shiraz, but as our visas for Turkmenistan had specific dates and we only had a 3 day transit visa we decided to head north. We stayed the night in Tabas. There's only one hotel their and it looked like a gulag and smelt like one too. Not worth a pic!
We continued towards Mashhad, the religious capital of Iran. We were surprized at the women's fashions there. Lots of hair showing and not backwards with the makeup either. Then, there were the strict ones. The contrast was strange.
We stayed at Vali's Non smoking Home stay. I think Vali's been running the place since the hippy trail of the 70's.
